India is on the brink.
(CNN) As India fights a devastating second wave of Covid-19 that is killing thousands each day, international efforts to help tackle the crisis are hastening, with both Britain and the United States pledging aid and much-needed medical supplies.
The second wave, which began in March, has escalated rapidly, with India recording more than a million new cases in just three days. For the past two weeks, medical facilities have been running out of oxygen and ICU beds, with patients left outside hospitals waiting for care.
On Monday, India reported 352,991 new cases and 2,812 virus-related deaths, marking the world's highest daily caseload for the fifth straight day.

This is a humanitarian crisis. It's also a ticking timebomb, as India is a top exporter of goods and services, especially in IT, where they support thousands of multinational companies in financial services, technology, and utilities.
If for no other reason, countries that rely heavily on India for outsourcing should help them in order to save their own ass.

“Funky pickle” shipment had a SURPRISE!
Border patrol agents in Texas seized more than $4 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside a tractor-trailer carrying “funky pickles,” officials said.
On April 17, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers inspected a tractor-trailer hauling a shipment of pickled cucumbers at the Pharr-Reynose International Bridge cargo facility, the agency said.
After imaging the shipment, authorities said they found 114 packages of suspected methamphetamine, worth $4,343,000, hidden with the fresh produce, officials said.
“This substantial quantity of hard narcotics will not make its final destination in the United States,” Port Director Carlos Rodriguez said.

Rude dumbass placed in no fly zone
JUNEAU, Alaska — Alaska Airlines has banned an Alaska state senator for refusing to follow mask requirements.
“We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” spokesman Tim Thompson told the Anchorage Daily News on Saturday, adding that the suspension was effective immediately.

Reinbold claims she is unaware of any ban and plans on getting a flight on Alaska Airlines in the very near future. She has to be back in Juneau this week to do her job.

California population is moving east…and not just out of the state.
California is bracing for the first time to lose one of its 53 congressional seats. The data will probably show that California’s population grew 6.5 percent over the last decade, slightly below the national average. The state has reported a net loss of nearly half a million people in the last two years alone.
But the more detailed data to be released in the coming months will show that California’s out-of-state exodus is overshadowed by the churning movement of people within its borders, now remaking once-rural communities such as this one (Rocklin in Placer County).
For many in California, the coronavirus outbreak accelerated the move from city to distant suburbs, acting in the words of one Bay Area business leader as a “steroid” for migration.

This is not good news. I sense that California will come back and many will either return or an influx of newbies will move to the Golden State. But this exodus right before the Census was crappy timing.

Wyoming “promised land” for crypto currencies
Wyoming’s economy is powered by some of the oldest industries in human history, including mining, agriculture and tourism. But in recent years the state has emerged as an unlikely champion of far newer inventions: cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology that powers them.
Now, the Cowboy State is arguably the most crypto-friendly jurisdiction in the United States, thanks to state leaders’ shepherding a series of new laws.
These changes have encouraged several high-profile companies in the industry to move operations from traditional high-tech hubs like San Francisco to Wyoming’s capital city of Cheyenne, including crypto exchange Kraken, blockchain platform Cardano and payment protocol firm Ripple Labs. But it has also put the state on a potential collision course with federal regulators who appear far more skeptical of the costs and benefits of blockchain technology than libertarian-leaning Wyomingites.

“Miracle Mineral Solution”
Four members of a family in Bradenton, Floriduh, face life in prison for selling bleach as a cure for COVID-19.
Mark Grenon and his three sons — Jonathan, Jordan and Joseph — face several charges for peddling their “Miracle Mineral Solution” to customers even after the Food and Drug Administration refuted those claims and a court ordered the family to halt sales of the chemicals.
