Biden speaks to Indian prime minister – The Washington Post
Amid an unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases and deaths in India, President Biden spoke with the country’s prime minister on Monday and pledged assistance.
Biden told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the United States will provide “oxygen-related supplies, vaccine materials and therapeutics,” according to a readout from the White House on the call. The United States was under increased pressure to offer assistance to India, which has emerged as the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic.
The aid agreement came the same day the White House, under pressure to help vaccinate the global population, announced it would share up to 60 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine with other countries.
